Six Nature Places For Dating In Singapore
Here a run through of some of the nature places suitable for a wonderful date. I think it great to take a time out from our busy city life and step into the urban and enjoyed the nature for a bit.
HSBC Tree Top Walk
Opening Hours:
Tues to Fri: 9am – 5pm, Sat, Sun and PHs :8.30am – 5pm, Closed on Mon except PH

The HSBC TreeTop Walk (HSBC TTW) is the highlight of several long hiking routes in MacRitchie that brings you through different stages of mature secondary forest. The
first of its kind in Singapore and in the region, this free-standing suspension bridge connects the two highest points (Bukit Peirce and Bukit Kalang) in MacRitchie and offers a bird’s eye view of the community of plants and animals that live in the forest canopy. The total length of the walkway is about 250m and its height from the forest floor varies, with the highest point at 25m.
Besides providing another avenue for nature recreation for Singaporeans, the HSBC TTW also play an important role in forest canopy research, an area many researchers were not able to get into because of lack of access. This bridge will help to facilitate surveys and plant identification work and further our understanding of how forest ecosystems work.
The distance to the entrance of the TreeTop Walk is approximately 4.5 km (1.5 – 2 hour walk) from the MacRitchie Reservoir Park and 2.5 km (45 mins – 1 hr walk) from the carpark at Venus Drive. Therefore, a round trip including the TreeTop Walk is about 7 to 10 km (3-5 hours depending on your walking pace).
Please note that the walkway only allows for one-direction traffic. The entrance to the bridge is from Ranger Station via Peirce track.
Marsh Garden
Opening Hours: Day, Evening
Description
The Marsh Garden has been in existence since the 1980s. Over the years, the native plants such as Avicennia alba and Acrostichum aureum which were originally found at the mangrove habitat, were slowly overtaken by exotic species such as Acacia auriculiformis and Albizia spp. It is currently home to 15 species of birds and 10 species of plants. It located at around Clementi Woods.
Ketam Mountain Bike Park
Ketam Mountain Bike Park, located in Pulau Ubin, is the first in Singapore to meet international standards for mountain biking competitions. The 45-ha park features 10km of mountain bike trails catering to both leisure cycling as well as international competitions.
NParks had re-landscaped the site and over a 1,000 trees and shrubs were planted. Today, it is covered with greenery and is
a good habitat for a large number of open country wildlife. It has even attracted birds like the Red-wattled Lapwing and
Baya Weaver that were previously not found on Ubin.
Ketam Mountain Bike Park is an example of how a balance between nature conservation and development can be achieved in land-scarce Singapore. In this case, a recreational activity like mountain biking can co-exist with the need to conserve our natural heritage.
Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve
In 1986, a group of avid birdwatchers from the then Malayan Nature Society (Singapore Branch) stumbled upon this ecological jewel, and wrote a proposal to the government for its conservation. The 87-ha wetland site was subsequently designated as a nature park in 1989. The then Parks & Recreation Department, a precursor to the National Parks Board, undertook the development of Sungei Buloh, in consultation with experts in the field, notably, the Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust from the United Kingdom and Worldwide
Fund for Nature. The reserve is somewhere around Lim Chu Kang.
Over the years, the unique place that is Sungei Buloh charmed people from all strata of society to support its cause. It welcome its 100,000th visitor in 1994.
In the same year, Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve was recognized as a site of international importance for migratory birds with Wetlands International presenting a certificate to mark the reserve’s formal entry into the East Asian Australasian Shorebird Site Network, which include Australia’s Kakadu National Park, China’s Mai Po and Japan’s Yatsu Tidal Flats.
The Southern Ridges
Opening Hours: Day, Evening
The Southern Ridges comprise a 9-kilometer chain of green, open spaces spanning the rolling hills of Mount Faber Park, Telok Blangah Hill Park and Kent Ridge Park before ending at West Coast Park.
It is an area steeped in history and is home to some of nature’s greatest gifts of flora and fauna. It is also one of the best spots in Singapore to catch panoramic views of the city, harbour and the Southern Islands.
Two prominent connections stand proudly along the Ridges today.
Henderson Waves – Singapore’s highest pedestrian bridge – spans Henderson Road to connect Mount Faber Park to Telok Blangah Hill Park.
The other link, Alexandra Arch, looks like an opened leaf across Alexandra Road. It continues to Forest Walk, which is made up of an elevated walkway for pedestrians and earth trail for cyclists through the secondary forest of Telok Blangah Hill Park.
Together with a series of other interesting trails, they provide a seamless link through a soothing sanctuary of greenery that was previously not accessible.
By far, the southern ridges is the latest nature place that Singapore had initiated. It’s a must for every Singaporean to visit it at least for once.
Labrador Nature Reserve
The Park is an oasis of tranquility and natural wonder. The park offers a picturesque view of the sea. A Staircase built on the edge of the secondary forest will offer a prime view of the cliff side vegetation coupled with a panoramic view of the sea. While you are taking a leisurely stroll along one of the nature trails, you can spot squirrels scurrying up trees.
