There was once when I made a female friend angry, she refused to talk to me. the atmosphere became awkward and I had to admit to myself that I had been a jerk by carrying a joke too far. After some impromptu self-reflection, I started to talk to myself or was I.
I imitated some of her behaviour and acted out the way she would always reprimand me. So I was actually reprimanding myself quite loudly, beside her, with feminine gestures.
It was embarrassing, but it helped me turn the tide.
